HOLE SPECIFICS


NAME:        KASH KNOB        
-        Hole is named for William Kash and Sally Kash his wife, who were the original owners of the property from the mid 1800’s until
1873.  The whole area was originally known as Kash Knob.  Both Mr. & Mrs. Kash are buried in the old cemetery on top of the knob
along the hole.

SPECIFICS:        
-        Hole is a dogleg right with a blind drive from all tees except the womans.  The fairway in generous inside 150 yards, however, you
must play to the left side of the fairway as the drop on the right side will be playable, but tough.  
-        A large waste area has been constructed on the right side of fairway beginning at approximately 110 yards.  The waste area will
have to be cleared by anyone attempting to drive the green by not playing the dogleg.   
-        The green is cut into the side of the hill with a bank on the left, three mounds behind and a bunker that begins in the right front
and goes ¾ of the length of the green.
-        The green is approximately 5,000 square feet and is sloped from back to front.
COMMENT:        A difficult opening tee shot.  Makes you want to hit a bucket of balls before you get started.

HOLE #2        PAR 5
NAME:        CARPENTER VISTA
-        Hole is named for the Carpenter family who owned the property for over a century, from 1873 to 1978.  Owners Stephen
Carpenter, Stephen P. Carpenter and Amanda Carpenter, his wife, and Linville and Leone Carpenter, and wife, are buried in the
cemeteries along the first hole.

SPECIFICS:
-        Hole is a double dogleg first to the left and then right with an elevation drop of over 80 feet from the back tees to the higher side
of the fairway and nearly a 100 feet to the lower side.  
-        Hole has a bi-level fairway in landing area with right side of fairway approximately ten to fifteen feet lower than left side, lower level
ends approximately 225 yards to green. Upper fairway narrows and ends at ditch crossing fairway at 170 yards.   
-        Two trees will be added to the lower fairway to force all play back to the left from the lower fairway.    
-        Second fairway past drainage narrows to the green and drifts to the right.
-        The green is level with the fairway to allow shots to run on and has a ditch on left hand side against the hill, a large sand bunker
from the center of the green along the front right, and a recessed chipping area behind the green in front of another drainage ditch.
-        The green is approximately 6,200 square feet and is fairly flat with the exception of two hogs backs, one on the front left and one
in the middle right.
COMMENT:        The par 5 on the course that you really need to score on.  The tee shot is awesome with the large elevation drop.  You
must keep the ball on the upper fairway to get home in two.

HOLE #3        PAR 4
NAME:        “WHIRL” HOLE
-        Hole is named for the area directly behind the green known locally as the Whirl hole.  This is the spot where Quicksand Creek hits
the hill and deflects on around the creek causing the water to swirl.

SPECIFICS:        
-        Elevation drop of over 100 feet from the top tee box to the fairway.
-        There is a large grass bunker/waste area beginning at 50 yards to the green and extending from the middle of the green and
encompassing the entire right of the green.  
-        Green is elevated from fairway and has two trees which cover the front left side.  The left side falls away to a chipping area and
the mounds behind slope over severely to a chipping area on the left and center back and to the creek on the right side.
-        The green is approximately 5,800 square feet and has a large bowl in the immediate front, and the rest is sloped significantly from
left to right and back to front.
COMMENT:        Jack Nicklaus says every course needs a great short par 4, and this is ours.  A pure strategy hole.  If you go for the
green and miss, there is trouble.  The best play is a mid-iron in to the fairway and sand wedge to the green.  

HOLE #4        PAR 3
NAME:        NIMMIE’S TREE
-        Hole is named for former owner of the property and former County Judge Nim Henson, who it is said used to set under the large
cedar tree that centers the green from the tee and enjoy a few cold ones from time to time.

SPECIFICS:
-        Green is elevated from tee and shot is total carry over Lake Evan.
-        Can play hole from differing tee boxes to give different angles at hole.
-        Green is cut into the side of the hill with mounding all around the back and sides, giving a back board effect.  
-        There is large sand bunker in the front center of the green approximately 10 feet below the green surface, and there is bailout
room on front right where you can come up short and not roll back into lake.
-        The green is approximately 5,200 square feet and slopes from back to front and left to right.
COMMENT:        This is the shorter par 3 on the course, and is full of danger.  A precise tee shot is required, as you can not go long,
and had best not be short.  

HOLE #5        PAR 4
NAME:        WATTS’ WALL        
-        Hole is named for Co-designer Tony Watts and his son Kolby.  Kolby was the first to suggest building the green up on the rock
wall as it is.

SPECIFICS:
-        Hole is a dogleg right to an elevated green.  The fairway is flanked on the left by a slope down to a waste area and drainage ditch
and on the right by a drainage ditch.  The ditch on the right will play as a lateral hazard.  
-        The drainage ditch crosses the fairway at approximately 95 yards from the green.  
-        There will be internal out of bounds at the cart path on the right so that the 2nd fairway can not be used to shorten the hole.
-        The green is cut into the side of the hill and is elevated approximately 35 feet from the fairway.  
-        The green is approximately 5,400 square feet and has an elevated platform in the back right, and slopes from back to front, and
has a false front sloping back down to the fairway.
COMMENT:        This will be the toughest par 4 on the course.  If the distance were not enough, the shot into the green requires a
basically blind, exacting shot.  Par will be a good score here.

HOLE #6        PAR 3
NAME:        TOPCAT
-        This hole is named for Darrell Miller, as Topcat has his handle when he was head mechanic at Falcon in the 1970’s.

SPECIFICS:
-        Tee shot carries Darrell’s Pond, with elevation drop of 35 feet from tee to green.
-        Green is elevated with and slopes severely down on the left front, left side, rear and right back.  There is a fairway short right.
-        The green is approximately 4,900 square feet and is two tiered.  The tiers separate the back and front of the green.  The entire
green is sloped significantly from back to front.
COMMENT:  A scenic and challenging par 3.  Par will be a good score.

HOLE #7        PAR 4
NAME:        ORCHARD
-        This hole is named for the orchard that did stand on the property in roughly the area from the tee boxes up to the beginning of
the fairway.

SPECIFICS:
-        Hole is a slight dogleg left from the back men’s tee.  
-        The fairway is flanked by a collection area, drainage ditch on the left and mounding on the right.  
-        The green is elevated with Lake Evan behind and extending up beside the green on the right.  There are three mounds behind,
with a chipping area to the left.
-        The green is approximately 5,000 square feet with two tiers.  The upper tier is a platform in the back right, that slopes to the back
of the green, the remainder of the green slopes from back to from, and the left hand side slopes back to front and right to left off the
green.
COMMENT:        This hole will usually play into the prevailing wind, and is pretty wide open.  The green will make this hole difficult.

HOLE #8        PAR 4
NAME:        TEN ACRE FIELD
-        This hole is named for the farming area this is basically encompassed by this hole and the 3rd green.  This was the most fertile
farming land on the property.

SPECIFICS:
-        This hole is a straight, long par 4. The fairway is flanked by Quicksand Creek and a tree line from 150 on in on the left and
mounding on the right.    
-        The green is slightly elevated with mounding behind green and chipping areas on the left, right and font.  
-        The green is approximately 4,100 square feet and slopes from back to front.
COMMENTS:  This is the longest par 4 on the course and has the smallest green.  This hole requires a shot maker.  

HOLE #9        PAR 5
NAME:        BLACK STEVE
-        This home is named for Stephen P. “Black Steve” Carpenter who owned the property from 1909 until his death in the 1930’s.  
Black Steve’s homestead sat on what is now the landing area (top of the slope) of the 9th fairway.  This area used to be a hill until
removed by mining.

SPECIFICS:
-        Hole is a dogleg left and the landing area is cut on a 14 degree upslope.  The fairway is wide flanked by a drainage ditch on the
right and a slope down to Quicksand Creek on the left.
-        The fairway is sloped from right to left from about 165 yards out to 75 yards which will push shots to the left.
-        The green is L shaped with a deep bunker on the front left, and mounding all around.
-        The green is approximately 6,350 square feet and has a high area (platform) in the back right corner, the entire green slopes
from back to front and right to left from the platform.  
COMMENT:        A difficult finishing hole, and a true three shot par 5.  A birdie here will be well earned and make you the hero of the
foursome.
